My Relationship With The Cat Lady

To completely understand my relationship with this lady, you first need to read this story: https://angorachronicles.com/2022/12/10/pecan-pralines-the-sugary-kind-not-the-gooey-ones/ One day I got a call from this lady. She wanted me to keep a lookout for a certain car. Her husband, Wayne’s little pickup had been hauled away, a total loss, after the big wreck that killed him. (I don’t think he died immediately, but soon thereafter from the injuries) Her old car hadn’t been very dependable and now without the little Ford Ranger pickup for a backup, she was going to need to replace it. I had gone by a couple of … Continue reading My Relationship With The Cat Lady

Pecan Pralines (the sugary kind, not the gooey ones)

I used to go to church with an elderly lady, that shall remain nameless. She “played” a huge role in the church, our organist/pianist for over 50 years, and was a very long term member. She became widowed along the way. With losing her husband, the level of cantankerousness got worse and worse. For whatever reason when she would get mad and quit the church, I would be able to go spend a little time with her and get her to come back. She saw me as a more independent arbiter than the pastor or others at the church. The … Continue reading Pecan Pralines (the sugary kind, not the gooey ones)

Rocker Steiner & A Little Something About The Steiner Family

This kid (make that Young Man) , Rocker caught a lot of flack earlier in the week at the National Finals when he said some stuff that was a bit too colorful for some snowflakes in the media. I have to admit that I hadn’t followed the new burgeoning career of Rocker Steiner. I did a little looking and found his 95 point ride on the famous horse Virgil back earlier in 2022. Then there is this YouTube Video of the living 3 generations of Rodeo Seiner’s. Watching this gave me a whole different opinion of Rocker. I love this … Continue reading Rocker Steiner & A Little Something About The Steiner Family

On Being OCD

It may sound strange that I, Ronnie Lewis have OCD tendencies, having spent the past half century building sewer systems to take people’s human waste to a place of treatment. This required me and my men to actually crawl off in the human waste, waist deep. I’m sorry to say neck deep a time or two. But a man gotta do what a man gotta do. Now back to the OCD thing. I hate to handle opening a trash can lid to deposit my trash inside. If I can take the trash that I’m depositing and quickly use it to … Continue reading On Being OCD

When someone is on your mind and you can’t get it to go away, there could be a reason for it.

She is one of my cousins, a girl cousin about the age of Kenny and about 3 years older than me. She was actually a first cousin to my Dad and our second cousin. (I don’t get off into all that once removed……..,blah, blah, blah) We grew up together, sharing a lot of time as young kids and on into our teenage years. I didn’t see much out of her after we were grown, but kept up with her through my Grannie Ruby Linebarger Waggoner, my Dad’s birth Mother. When Facebook came about, I connected with her and then visited … Continue reading When someone is on your mind and you can’t get it to go away, there could be a reason for it.

The New Microwaves

Depending on the Internet for most of my information, I looked to see when the microwave oven started making its way into kitchens everywhere. Well it says they first became available to consumers in the late 60’s. They were called Electronic Ovens. They never hit my radar until about 1977 or maybe it was 1978. Perhaps that’s when the first countertop models were introduced. Kenny and I had experienced a successful year and decided that would be the perfect gift for our wives for Christmas. We went out to find the very best we could afford. We found what was … Continue reading The New Microwaves

Back When We Were Kids

I often look back on my young life and growing up as the little brother. There were just the two of us, Kenny and me. We did almost everything together. That doesn’t mean we liked all the same things. Kenny was always an animal person and still is. He broke horses, had dogs that he trained to work goats and cattle. We both were involved in breaking horses, starting with Shetlands at a very young age, he was about 10 years old and I was 2 1/2 years younger. Of course that was his passion and I came along as … Continue reading Back When We Were Kids

Kenny and the Bird Condo

The picture below is of a birdhouse. Not just any ole birdhouse. This is a bird condo. This is like 50 bird birdhouse. One day there was an old fellow sitting on the side of the road with this gigantic birdhouse that he had built and had it for sale. This was at a time when Ken would have a drink or two before he would head home. He decided to stop and inquire about the birdhouse. I don’t remember the exact money deal so I’ll just make up something close. The guy said he wanted $300 for it. Kenny … Continue reading Kenny and the Bird Condo

Kenny’s Gift To Me and The Story Of The Homeless Woman

Kenny went off to an auction one Saturday where wildlife and birds of all kinds were being sold. This was at the very end of the big ostrich craze. You all remember that don’t you? There have been several others too, the Emu , the Llama, the Alpaca where anybody that’s anybody has to have some if they ever expect to become wealthy. Anyway Kenny decided my little estate could use a couple of the giant birds. So unbeknownst to me he pulled in and opened the trailer gate and made me the proud owner of the two ostriches. Like … Continue reading Kenny’s Gift To Me and The Story Of The Homeless Woman

Oh, If not for the memories!

Yesterday it fell to me to have my granddaughter Sofia accompany me on my last minute rounds to town to finish up gathering stuff for our Thanksgiving Feast today. We talked about where we could have lunch. She choose Chuck E Cheese. I talked her down off of that and suggested GattiLand in Round Rock. Only because I knew where that was and couldn’t think of a close by Chuck E place. We arrived early, soon after they opened at 11:00. There was a lady standing near the front door with a small boy. I greeted her and went inside. … Continue reading Oh, If not for the memories!
