How I Began My Woodworking Hobby

We have a very unique table. We got it from Madeline’s mom, Maxine, many years ago. It was a coffee table brought back from Venezuela by Maxine and Ted in the 60s. It’s not just a regular coffee table, it is huge. It’s made for a crosscut piece of Honduran Mahogany that is approx 3 1/2″ thick by 4’/ 5′ oval diameter. It’s a very impressive piece. It Has Come That Time In My Life

As old age catches up to me, I find myself in almost constant pain. Not my whole body. Just my right hand. I thought perhaps it was carpal tunnel, but after looking up the symptoms of that condition, I decided it’s not that. It’s more of pain in the middle of my palm and my thumb. It has been bothering me for several months. Remembering The Turkey Bend Ladies

My wife handed me a baby blanket the other day that was badly stained. She reminded me that Aunt Mamie Franck (we called her Aunt Mamie, but she wasn’t actually our aunt) hand made this little blanket when our first born son, Matthew was born. Matt will turn 47 this coming August 22, which is my birthday as well. I turned 22 years old the day he came into this world. The Old Holland Page Kenworth Truck

When I was a small boy and would go visit the Holland Page Construction Yard. My greatest thrill of all was when we would go there and his big Kenworth Haul Truck was there dropping off or picking up a load. Below is a picture of a truck that looks so much like that old Kenworth. It was a 1940 model. It was retired in 1964, with 4.5 million miles on it. A funny yet strange encounter happened at a Roadside Rest Stop today. In my travels today I had to go up to a job we are doing out west of Waco. It’s up where SpaceX tests its rocket engines. After seeing everything I needed to, I left there and the same thing happened that always happens when I go up there. Tommy Houy was a Honda Motorcycle guy all the way.

I think his first one was a 125cc that he had when I first came to Marble Falls, starting the 8th grade. I don’t think he ran all over town on it, but rode it over on his side of town. Then he jumped up to a 350cc. It was metallic blue. That’s the one he wrecked on. During the repairing of it, he switched the color to a metal flake orange.
