The PreCast Concrete Venture That Exposed Me To A Ponzi Scheme

The year was 1991. I had spent 20 years digging ditches and I thought enough is enough. The economy was in the crapper. The great real estate boom of the 80s was over and all the big water and wastewater lines had been constructed to the far reaches of the city and beyond in Austin. The future didn’t look so swell for our business. I needed a break. I thought it was time for some new scenery, so to speak. I had two groups of employees by that time. The old and the new. It was time for the old … Continue reading The PreCast Concrete Venture That Exposed Me To A Ponzi Scheme

I Was A Kid With Few Talents

In fact I think I could only do approximately two unusual or amusing things. One of those I tried out while sitting in the barber chair a while back. Now mind you it wasn’t the first time I’d tried a barber out on this but in memory it’s the first time I ever got a real reaction. As this young gal started to clip the ear hair, I started my ear wiggling routine. Of course I could see her look as I could see her in the mirror, so as she’d get close with the clipper, I’d let my big … Continue reading I Was A Kid With Few Talents

On Thinking About Fighting Yeast Infections….

I’m not fighting a yeast infection, mind you. But I was on some strong antibiotics just a little while back. One of my wife’s crazy friends told her I needed to drink probiotic milk to get everything back in sync. Low N Behold she brought me home this stuff. It was a carton each of Strawberry and Blueberry Buttermilk. Wow, that’s a strange sensation in your mouth. Actually I’ve taken to it. When these are gone, I’ll have to decide if I want more. Rubbing Shoulders With Eva Longoria

During a rant earlier on my Political Speak Group I related the following true story. I didn’t repost it in its entirety due to my desire to not politicize this group. But you can gather I have a very different view of life than she does. Now for the story: And to think – I once found myself rubbing shoulders with this bimbo. “Yes, the Ronbo here rubbed shoulders with Eva Longoria”. I was invited to sit on the floor at a SA Spurs game in the owners seats at courtside. Eva and Tony Parker were an item at the … Continue reading Rubbing Shoulders With Eva Longoria

It Comes That Time When It’s Time To Throw In The Towel

There have been a lot of happy years, but I finally think it’s time that I go a different direction. It seems like it has become more about money than about trying to please. As time has gone on, her equipment has become outdated and my tolerance level isn’t what it used to be. Sometime today it will become official. After over 20 years, of a mostly blissful relationship, DirectTV is showing up and when they get me hooked up, I’ll box up all this DishTV outdated crap and send it back. Wish me luck. This old dog doesn’t adapt … Continue reading It Comes That Time When It’s Time To Throw In The Towel

The Future Is Much About Our Past

I’m not sure if I should try to hide from this fact or embrace it with open arms and take satisfaction in it. Back on November 5th, 2018, I switched to the blogging software WordPress, which is a free and open-source content management system for writing. Then I link it to my stories on Facebook instead of directly entering them. Much of what I’ve done for the past couple of months is rewrite previous stories, cleaning them up and making them make sense. I figure that many of you may be rehearing them, but getting to the age many of … Continue reading The Future Is Much About Our Past

The Mystery Has Been Solved

A few days ago I was mopping the kitchen floor with one of these Bissell machines that sprays water and cleanser out, has some spinning brushes that scrubs the floor and lastly it sucks the dirty water up in another reservoir. This was just after we had entertained a big bunch of our grandkids on New Years Eve. So it was really needing a cleaning. After I did a fairly small area the machine made the sound that it makes when the dirty water reservoir is full and needs emptying. I thought that strange. I unsnapped the little tank to … Continue reading The Mystery Has Been Solved
