Last night a fellow put out a plea for help on a FB Group I belong to. When it rains he gets water in his house. I was willing to help him or at least go by and see what it would take to remedy his situation. So I messaged him. This is how that went. Not long after we moved to Bertram, a new pastor was sent to the Methodist Church. He and his wife were very lovely people. They had arrived here after spending time in Goldthwaite, Texas. This adventure started on Saturday morning Jan. 11th, 2014. I received a call from a young man that I’ve known his entire life, but haven’t had much contact with for many years. Johnny, as I’ll call him here, said he was down on his luck and could I give him some work. Being in Corpus Christi, 250 miles from Bertram, I said no I really didn’t have any work. We were talking about the Post Office on here one time and it made me think of an incident that I got involved in a few years ago at the Bertram Post Office. I walked in one day to transact some business. I found myself behind a young lady being waited on by the Post Mistress herself. One Sunday afternoon I was sitting around the house, with my three younger sons. They were all still in school, but big teenagers by that time. We looked out as a minivan drove up and parked in the circular drive out front. We all four went out to see what they wanted.
