I’m not sure what went wrong. May have been from running air tracks, with no ear protection when I was a younger fella. Or being around bulldozers and other noisy equipment my whole life.

I don’t think it has anything to do with being yelled at by my wife because she’s never been a yeller. In fact she is so quiet I hardly know when she’s around. Or maybe I’m just not hearing her yell.
But she’s been telling me for 20 years or maybe 40 years that I need some hearing aids.
I finally decided a few weeks ago to get some. They told me to wear them for short periods of time for the first month, and play around with the volume controls. Make it all feel right.
I did it for several days and then put them in the holder and dropped them in the console of my truck and kind of forgot about them. Still denying that anything is really wrong with my hearing.
I ran on to them earlier today and decided get with the program and get serious about wearing them full time.
They were all charged up so I popped them in each ear, got the volume just right while listening to some dope talking on the radio.
The suddenly there was a loud shrieking and buzzing in each ear. I kept trying to get them adjusted correctly. I finally jerked them out of my ears, to hear the radio announcer say “You have been listening to the Emergency Alert System Test Warning. This is only a test. We are returning to our regular broadcast”.
I don’t even remember the last time I had heard one of those.
Great timing today, huh.
I went ahead and put them back in and proceeded on down the highway toward home. I think I’m going to leave them in until the batteries run down or there is another Emergency Alert System Test Warming.
