This post is about the name I found on my Paternal Great Grandparents (Moses and Judy Maybelle Linebarger) Marriage License.
I was curious about who the Minister was that married them. The spelling of the name was hard to make out. Trying several different spellings I finally went to the Burnet Co. History Book – Vol. 1 and found the name Bro. Rucker. Seeing that he had been at a church, Hale Spring Baptist Church which was located up Hamilton Creek, I decided this may be the man I was looking for. But it didn’t give a first name or initial. Some more digging told me there was a George Rucker that had served several area churches back in that day.
Doing more research I found where a George Glasscock Rucker (GG Rucker) was buried up in Coleman County, Texas.
Then finding some Rucker Genealogy I was able to get to even more GG Rucker information.
So at this time I am 99% sure this is the minister that married my Great Grandparents.
By the way: being in the type of construction I have spent my life doing, this title seems very appropriate. “A Little Digging Pays Off”

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
