A lot of people have done things in their lives that caused a hit to their legacy. Almost everyone will at some point during a long lifetime have a circumstance that will tarnishes the way people see look upon them. Sometimes it’s justified because of their own actions. But that’s not always the case.
I’m currently going through one of those periods. A story is floating around where I’m being accused of betraying the trust of a good friend. I will not lay it all out in this short essay. In fact if this is all Greek to you, then you haven’t heard what’s being said, therefore don’t concern yourself with it. On the other hand, if you have caught wind of such a rumor, give me a call and I’ll gladly divulge exactly what happened.
I have truly reached out to the person or persons involved and have been unable to get them to a point of understanding how the whole incident unfolded. Thus far my attempts have fallen on deaf ears.
The story floating around sounds very convincing. It would seem as if there’s just no other way that it happened, that the person here writing this is the one and only person that could have possibly stirred the pot and caused harm!
But I can tell you that it didn’t occur the way the story is being told. When I’m able to tell my side to those that have been lied to, the story goes full circle, and starts to make sense in a hurry.
There is a reason that I can’t blurt out the whole story in this forum. It’s all about legalities.
If this all sounds cryptic, there’s a reason for that. I’m one of the lucky ones. I have a following here that lets me speak out to a nice audience of folks. Folks that I regularly talk to that I hope trust me to be forthright and trustworthy with them. Having my name and reputation dragged through the mud is not a part of who I am.
As I’ve told a few people this past week or two, I’ve spent more than a half century striving to build and maintain a good reputation. One where I could be trusted and depended on. I’m not standing by at this late date to let things just play out and hope people all see the light one day.
If I use FB and my groups as a “Bully Pulpit”, well that’s just the way it is.
In the words of Rodney King, coming out of the LA Riots of the 1990s – “Can’t we all just get along” …..seems fitting in this case.
Like I said before, if you’ve heard these accusations, give me a call or heck come by and have a cup of coffee with me. Ain’t no reason to leave things unsaid.
