Pat Taylor had been told this story out of the Chupadero Ranch, down on the border

The ranch had a blue gelding that they had tried to break for a long time, but never could get him where he would not buck. By this time he was around a 5 year old.

He was in the pen and they keep messing with him and putting a young Mexican cowboy on him. Each time he’d throw him off.
Glenn finally tied the horse in a chute, blindfolded him and got the rider in the saddle. Then he took a rope and tied that cowboys feet and stirrups together underneath the horse.

They untied that blue horse and turned him loose. He buck so long and hard that boy was flopping around like a limp dish rag. About that time the horse ran right through a gate and head off down a long lane and into the pasture.

They all jumped in a couple of pickups and took off after the runaway. Somehow they finally got a couple of ropes on him and got him settled down enough to get he boy off. He had blood coming out of his ears, nose and mouth. They thought they were going to lose him, but swear he finally got alright.

Life wasn’t easy on the Chupadero.
