The Marble Falls Methodist Church

Much has been talked about this old building. I’ve never heard anyone say they were pleased that it was torn down. It was such an iconic building.

I had thought that the building was demolished due to it having asbestos insulation in it. That was a very popular thing to do in the 1970s.

However, reading here the insulation material was made from cotton seed shot holes in my theory.

The other thing that struck me about this building is how it was built as a single story building and shortly thereafter a basement was added. That sure isn’t the conventional way of doing things.

I can’t even imagine the work that went into the shoring up of the building and then going underneath to excavate for the basement. Lot of hard working men back in those days.
