Actually quite a few people know what’s happening but if you happen to be one that doesn’t, I’ll just tell you.

As you may have read, I’ve been asking questions lately about the young girl that died in Marble Falls back in 1965. Her name was Daynon Lewis. She was one of our classmates and we were in the 8th grade. she was a sweet innocent blond haired girl.

We have had her death as a topic several times in past years. Not as a just a way to bring up the past, but something about the circumstances of her death seems unresolved to us. Each time we’ve talked about it, many people commented and everyone fondly remembered Daynon.

Many of us remembered it being reported that she died as result of suicide. Sometime during our discussions it was discovered that her death certificate listed cause of death as below:

No one found this determination very plausible than suicide. Kids don’t generally go out and place in stinky chicken coops (that was what the shed that was mentioned was used for). If “they were playing” as claimed, who were they? Why did it take several hours to find her? Why would someone just have ran away? There are many other questions.

Then a few weeks ago……. I was contacted by an investigations team from a news outlet that was putting a story together about a number of things in and around the area that were similar in nature to this case. They picked up on our discussions when searching the name online.

That’s how I became involved. That team came and interviewed me at my home in Bertram a couple days ago and I met them in Marble Falls yesterday where they conducted other interviews of local people.

With all that was said before and during these interviews, everyone is careful not place blame for Daynon’s death in the wrong place. As we will never know for sure what really happened, it’s just that we can hopefully see a reclassification of this case. It won’t bring this young girl back, but at least people may be able to reconcile our thoughts and memories.

You will see more about this in coming weeks as the investigation comes to life. It is expected to be ready to air in November.
