The era of the Central Hotel & Francis House (Francis Hotel)

W.F. Smith bought the Roper in 1926 and continued operating it under the name of “Central Hotel”. Smith sold to Birdie Smith in 1937 by which time the name had become “Francis House”.

The Changing Name

When I was growing up in Marble Falls the 60s it was alway referred to as the Francis Hotel.
I think when it was acquired and remodeled by Don and Michelle Gunn in the late 1970’s (? – May have been in the 80’s) is when the name Roper Hotel was once again used.
