This newly released book about Burnet County is very well researched and written. Well worth the purchase.
I was very taken by the one chapter about Will Fish. I had never known about Mr. Fish until a few years ago. While spending time with my good friend Sam Hall he has often referred to his Uncle, Doctor Will Fish.
For ever so long I thought he was using that as a metaphor of some sort. When he’d be telling a story about all the fish he caught with his buddies out at Decker Lake, the he’d say “my Uncle, Doctor Will Fish taught me right”.
I assumed that was a made up name. But then in later talks he told me about Will Fish being blind and cane to live with them, in their house not far from the old rodeo grounds. He even told about them fixing him up with a cot out back on the sleeping porch. That made it seem that there was a real person named Will Fish.
When reading the chapter in this book dedicated to the Will Fish story, I had to scan it and send it to Sam.
He claims that with the assistance of his grandson, Jordan, he read the whole thing.
Now I just ordered Sam his own copy of the book, as there are other things I’m sure he’ll find amusing.

Sorry for the bad scan quality. But you can order a copy for yourself.
