We had no idea what the future held. Emma Nicole Lewis popped out into this world and has entertained us all every day since then.
That blond hair was always mostly seen sticking out from underneath a cap, worn backwards most of the time.
As she entered Kindergarten at Bertram, she wore her cap everyday.
Although wearing hats in school wasn’t permitted, they gave up on that rule with Emma, if I remember correctly. It just wasn’t worth their effort to change her mind.
She had a very nice early career in Quarter Midget Racing, along with her brothers, Nate & Catfish. Below she is suited out in her fire suit.
It was at this age she had her hair trimmed short. I always think of Scout, of “To Kill A Mockingbird” when I see photos from that time period.
She and her four year older cousin, Holly have always had a close sister like relationship. They hardly make a move that the other doesn’t know about. A kinship that most of us can only long for.
This is a photo taken when the three of us went down north of Houston so they could attend a concert of their favorite Boy Band.
I’m not sure exactly what was going on as the two of them enjoyed some front porch swing time at Grandma’s. (It’s always been Grandma’s House, as if Granddad doesn’t live there too).
At some point she began wearing her hat around the right way. I remember taking she and Holly school clothes shopping in Austin and we talked frankly with her about upgrading her “look”, as Middle Schoolers could be very cruel. It may be the only time she ever listened to us.
I can’t leave out the love Emma has for dogs. This is her and Flynn.
Her love of basketball and her successes in sports have been well documented here, so I’ll move on to just a few days ago when our very beautiful high school senior attended her Prom. (I don’t know this young man, but Garrett Johnson is a Lucky Nugget)
Of course how could any girl turn down a fellow that ask you to the Prom in this very unique way. Knowing chicken nuggets are her favorite food, he came calling with Chick-Fil-A Nuggets in hand.
Besides it being her birthday, she has a signing ceremony at 12:25 PM today at the Burnet High School Gym to go play for Southwestern University in Georgetown and get a great education to boot.

One of the funniest things I can remember.
Emma was with her Mema Fay in the store one day. A lady standing in the checkout line with them said “how are you doing little boy“. To which Emma said “I’m a little girl, but don’t tell anybody“.
Beautifully said Granddad!
Happiest of Birthdays Emma Roo!
