If you want something badly enough, can you make it happen?

Is it possible for a person to want something enough that they can make it come true ? My case in point; My grandson Will loves basketball more than almost anything. He knows that being tall will make him a better basketball player.

He comes from a family of not extremely tall people, on either side. But now as he starts his sophomore year in high school he is 6’-2” tall and it doesn’t appear he’ll stop growing anytime soon.

So is there a special force at work? I guess we’ll just have to stand back and watch what happens.

This is Will (aka Catfish) when he got his driver permit recently.

  1. My father was about 5 and a half feet tall. (I made 5’11”). He wasn’t overly involved in my growing up, but one time DID come to a regional Boy Scout fair and drive a carload of kids back home. On the way, one of the 12-year-olds expressed the belief that “If you believe enough, you can make it happen.” My dad only replied, “I never made it to 6 feet tall.” I remember that sentence every time I hear the message about “believing makes it happen” statements.
Congratulations, by the way, on Catfish’s growth (and driving permit).
